This photo of my parents (Roy & Margaret Schmaltz), my grandparents (Roy & Mary Schmaltz) and David and I was taken on our wedding day, July 4, 1997 at my uncle Barney’s beautiful heritage home. You couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to get married. It was the perfect setting for a small casual country wedding. I consider my husband David to be a gift from the creator and I cherish our life together through the difficult and good times! He is without a doubt my soul mate! |
I think I was about four or five years old when this photo was taken. We were traveling through Banff on our way to visit family in British Columbia. We were living in Saskatchewan at the time so you can imagine how amazed we were at the breath taking beauty of the mountains. We ended up moving to Sparwood B.C. not too many years after this photo was taken. I am so happy that we did because my heart is, and always will be in the mountains. |
I love this picture of my husband. We have been in Creston many years. I must admit that sometimes we end up taking this for granted. When you see all of the tourists traveling for hundreds of miles just to spend a few days or weeks here, we start to realize just how lucky we really are. When we stop at a restaurant or store along the lake people assume that we are tourists and ask us, so where are you from? We are always proud to say that we are from Creston. Tourists always tell us how lucky we are to live here. I hear many people say we would like to move here some day. |
Here is a picture of some of my grandmas beautiful beadwork. My Grandma Christina lived with us from the time I was born until I was about sixteen. Not a day went by where Grandma didn’t do her beadwork. I remember sitting with her and she would tell me stories while she worked. Sometimes she would give me a needle and thread and some beads to string. If you were in another room you could hear her whistling or humming Indian songs while she worked. Because this was just a part of my everyday life I guess I took this for granted to some degree. I didn’t realize until grandma passed away just how special these moments were and what a big part of my life they were. Grandma and I were very close. I do my own style of beadwork, which is nothing like the magnificent work that my grandma does but it is my way of carrying on the tradition. |
I love this photo of mom and I. This was taken when I was about five or six years old when we lived in Pilot Butte, Saskatchewan. I was always such a tom boy I lived in jeans and ran around barefoot or with little cowboy boots. Looking back now I find it hard to believe how much I loved that dress that my parents got me. |
This picture, taken by my mom was of our first trip to Vancouver Island. My cousin Jacqueline came along with us. What an amazing time we had! We traveled from one end of the island to the other up the east side and down along the west coast. This was the first time that we saw starfish. It is hard to believe that they are actually alive. My husband David has never been to the West coast so I hope we can vacation there in the not to distant future. I know that he would really enjoy it! |
This photo of my husband looking like a tourist was taken at the ferry landing at Kootenay Bay on one of our many day trips to the lake. It is so nice to be able to get in the car and go to the lake any time we want to. |
We spent fathers day at Feast Creek Montana with my parents in 2005. The food was very good and the scenery was beautiful. |
