MOSAIC ART

Beaded Vase 7 x 9 Acrylic on canvas. Tassels and Beaded Fringe

My favorite medium will always be pencil however, every now and then I like to try somthing new.
There are two people who were the inspiration behind Mosaic Art. The first was my grandma Christina. She lived with us for many years giving me the privilege of watching her create beautiful beadwork. The second is my good friend Virginia who designs the most spectacular tapestries and mosaic tile work that I have ever seen.
I thought that it would be fun to try to create the same effect with acrylic paint. I found the results both tactile and eye catching. I hope that you enjoy my Mosaic Art.

Something Egyptian

Mosaic Egyption 22 X 24 Metalic Acrylic on canvas, Tassels $1000.00

If reincarnation is real then surely I was Egyptian in a past life.
I have always had a deep fascination for their rich culture, beautiful art and architectural skills.
Many years ago my sister dressed me up as Cleopatra for Halloween. I had a great deal of fun and the costume that she designed won first prize.
This untitled acrylic painting in "Mosaic Art" style took me thirty-four hours to complete. I hung it with rope and tassels to create the look of tapestry. The entire piece was painted with metallic paints. I was very happy with the effect but unfortunately it doesn't show up very well on the website.

Sun Moon

Beaded Sun Moon 11 X 14 Metalic Acrylic on canvas board, Tassels $400.00

Once again the sixties styled sun/moon motif has become very popular.
To give this piece a rich look I used metallic paint on both the painting and the frame.
For that mystical touch I put astrological and ruin symbols around the boarder.

Mosaic Mardi Gras 12 X 36 Metalic Acrylic on canvas $650.00

The Mardi Gras

The brilliant colors and lively celebration of New Orleans Mardi Gras was the inspiration behind this 12 x 36 acrylic on canvas. I brought The Mardi Gras to life by using my Mosaic Art technique.
This year (July 12, 2003) during our annual Garden Festival, our beautiful town of Creston will be hosting its first annual Gardi Gras. This family oriented celebration will be Crestons own twist on the Mardi Gras theme. The Gardi Gras will be a unique and festive way to bring together our community. It will feature many local crafts, artists and entertainers plus a whole lot more! We welcome everyone to our first annual Gardi Gras festival!

Wow! Our Garden Festival and first annual "Gardi Gras" celebration was a great success. The weather was perfect and everyone had an excellent time. We look forward to seeing everyone there again next year!
