Here are some digital photographs that my husband David and I took of some of our favorite areas in the Creston valley. |
This is the blossom from our, what I have been told, very old Catalpa tree that stands proudly by our post office. From what I understand the middle part of the tree is starting to rot out so the trunk is starting to split open. Many efforts are being made to preserve this beautiful old tree and hold the trunk together! |
This photo was taken at Kootenay Bay that is about an hour and a half drive from Creston on highway 3A. Aside from being very picturesque there are several artists, gift shops and restaurants in the area. At Kootenay Bay you can also drive aboard the M. V. Balfour or the Osprey 2000 for a relaxing 35-minute ferry ride to Balfour! After all these years I still feel like a tourist every time we get on the ferry. |
Even thought I don‘t like winter. I have to admit that winters in Creston valley are quite pleasant. This photo was taken at the Kuskanook boat launch about a 20-minute drive from Creston. |
You can see this beautiful view of Creston Valley when you travel along highway 3A from Creston to Wynndel that is located about 10 kilometers from Creston. There is a covered rest area with picnic tables where you can stop for a bite and take in the view! |
This is our beautiful Kootenay River. In the distance you can see the bridge on highway 3 that takes you towards the Salmo pass and also to West Creston. This picture was taken in early spring when the river was low, so we were able to walk along the riverbank. When spring thaw comes the area where I am standing to take this picture is covered by water. |
Wild turkey surprise! This picture was taken in West Creston. When David and I go for a drive in the valley we usually end up seeing wild turkeys. One time we saw one that was completely white. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to photograph it…go figure! Yes, we really did see a pure white turkey and if I ever get a picture of one you can bet that I will add it to the website! Then maybe you will believe me! |
