Welcome to my beadwork gallery

For years I grew up watching my grandma Christina do beautiful beadwork. She has certainly influenced my life because I really enjoy doing beadwork myself. In the past I tried to do more traditional Lakota beadwork but found that it just wasn’t my calling. Instead I have created my own unique designs for my jewelry and other beaded items that I make.

The necklaces and chokers featured on these pages are made with durable thread and stranded wire. They are accented with glass, metal or ceramic beads. The pendants are made from shale that has been washed smooth in a river, that we picked near an old ghost town here in British Columbia. I hand paint each rock and cover them with several coats of urethane for a durable finish. Then my husband securely attaches the painted rock to the piece of leather that the beadwork is on.

This one of a kind jewelry is fun to wear a makes for an interesting conversation piece!

Dancing Sticks

This is a project that my husband and I enjoy working on together. David cuts out, primes and base coats the horses and attaches the beaded mane and tail for me.I use my Mosaic Art technique to create the faux beaded effect that is painted the same on both sides of the body. I clear coat the horse with urethane for a durable finish.
The horse’s wooden body is approximately 7 inches tall, 28 inches long and 3/4 inch thick. I use both dyed and natural feathers as accents. These dancing sticks would make a great decorative piece to hang on the wall or can be used with a mans pow wow dancing regalia.
